Tour Overview
Wake in your Lucerne boutique room with Chapel Bridge framed in the window across the Reuss River at seven in the morning, then reach the Lauterbrunnen valley at dawn before the seventy-two waterfalls are anything but entirely yours — budget couple seven days at ninety-nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine.
A 6-day budget Switzerland package for couples from India - one night in Zurich on arrival, three in Interlaken and one in Lucerne, with every rail ticket bought and issued before you fly. Best from late May to early October, when the ridge railway and the lake steamers are both on their full summer schedule.
This is the entry-level Switzerland trip, and it is built to be exactly that rather than a longer package with things quietly removed. Six days is enough for two proper days out - a cog railway from 1893 up to a ridge facing the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, and a paddle steamer across Lake Brienz to a waterfall reached by the oldest public funicular in Europe - plus two old towns and a scenic pass crossing between them. Summit tickets are the most expensive item in any Swiss itinerary, so they aren't included here. Every one of them is on the add-on list with what it costs, and you decide.

DAY 01
Arrive Zurich
Airport train 10 min - Old Town and the lake promenadeZURICH
Arrive Zurich
Airport train 10 min - Old Town and the lake promenade
- ARRIVAL
- The station sits directly beneath Zurich Airport arrivals. Ten minutes to the city centre, no shuttle and nobody to find.
- CHECK-IN
- One night in central Zurich, double bed. A single night on purpose - a city room with nothing included in it is the first thing to cut from an entry-price package.
- EVENING
- The lake promenade at Burkliplatz. In summer the light holds until nearly ten.
- AFTERNOON
- The Niederdorf lanes and the Lindenhof terrace, which gives you the whole Old Town in one view and costs nothing.
Central Zurich Hotel
1 night - Double bed - Breakfast - City centre
- Stay A single arrival night at a 3-star in central Zurich, walking distance from the main station.
- Why only one It lets you sleep off the flight without paying for a second city night that has nothing included in it.
- Note The confirmed property is named on your quotation. If it is unavailable for your dates, an equivalent Zurich 3-star is offered before you pay.
Zurich Airport to City
Direct train - 10 min
- At the airport The station is directly under arrivals. Escalator down, platform, done - no shuttle desk and nobody to find after a long flight.
- Frequency Trains to the main station every few minutes from early morning until past midnight.
- Private car option Available as an add-on if you land late or would rather not board a train straight away. Quoted separately.
Schynige Platte Railway (Included)
1893 cog railway - 1,967m ridge - Alpine garden - Panorama Way
- Included Return journey on the Schynige Platte cog railway from Wilderswil, running since 1893 in open-sided carriages.
- The view Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau in a row on one side, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz on the other. The same three peaks people pay several times as much to stand on.
- Free once up there The alpine botanical garden and the Panorama Way ridge loop, about an hour on an easy path.
- Season The railway runs roughly late May to late October. We confirm it is operating for your dates before booking.
DAY 02
Zurich to Interlaken
2 hrs by rail - Hohematte - Unterseen - Three nights beginINTERLAKEN
Zurich to Interlaken
2 hrs by rail - Hohematte - Unterseen - Three nights begin
- CHECK-IN
- Three nights in Interlaken, double bed, between the two lakes and walking distance from both stations.
- EVENING
- Unterseen, the old quarter across the river, and the Lake Thun shore beyond it. Both free and both quieter than the main street.
- RAIL
- Zurich to Interlaken Ost, about two hours with one change at Bern. Hourly through the day.
- AFTERNOON
- The Hohematte, a protected open meadow in the middle of town kept free of buildings so the Jungfrau stays in view. Paragliders land on it through the afternoon.
Interlaken Hotel
3 nights - Double bed - Breakfast - Between the two lakes
- Stay Three of the five nights, within walking distance of Interlaken Ost, where both full days out begin.
- Why three Schynige Platte and the Lake Brienz day both start from the same station, so three nights means two full days out and no packing in between. It also gives the weather somewhere to move if one morning is clouded in.
- Note Interlaken fills up fast for July and August. Your confirmed property and room category are stated in writing on your quotation before you pay.
Zurich to Interlaken
Via Bern - 2 hrs - One change
- Route Zurich to Bern on an intercity, then Bern to Interlaken Ost. One cross-platform change, hourly through the day.
- Best seats Right side after Bern, for Lake Thun along the second half of the run.
- No reservation Swiss intercity trains do not need seat bookings. Turn up, board, sit down.
Lake Brienz Steamer & Giessbach (Included)
Belle Epoque boat - 1879 funicular - Fourteen waterfall drops
- Included Lake Brienz steamer from Interlaken Ost, with stops at Giessbach and Iseltwald and the return leg.
- Giessbach funicular Built in 1879 and the oldest public funicular in Europe, running from the boat jetty up to the grand hotel beside the falls. Included.
- Free once you are there The footpaths around the fourteen waterfall drops, including the one that runs behind the water, and the whole of Iseltwald village.
- Season Lake Brienz steamers run roughly April to October, with the historic boats on the summer schedule.
DAY 03
Schynige Platte Ridge Railway
Cog railway from 1893 - 1,967m - Alpine garden - Panorama WayINTERLAKEN
Schynige Platte Ridge Railway
Cog railway from 1893 - 1,967m - Alpine garden - Panorama Way
- MORNING
- Short train to Wilderswil, then the Schynige Platte cog railway - running since 1893, in open-sided wooden-benched carriages, about fifty minutes up to a ridge at 1,967m. Included.
- AT THE TOP
- The Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau stand in a row directly opposite, with Lake Thun and Lake Brienz behind you. It is the view people go to Jungfraujoch hoping for, from the other side and at a fraction of the price.
- ALPINE GARDEN
- Several hundred species of Alpine plants grown on the ridge itself, free to walk through with your railway ticket.
- PANORAMA WAY
- A gentle loop of about an hour around the ridge, on a clear path in ordinary shoes, with the three peaks on one side and both lakes on the other.
Central Lucerne Hotel
1 night - Double bed - Breakfast - Near the lake
- Stay A closing night in Lucerne, central for the station, the old town and the lake.
- Why finish here Lucerne is seventy minutes from Zurich Airport on a direct train. Ending in the mountains would mean a long, anxious departure morning instead of a short one.
- Want longer A second Lucerne night lets us add the Burgenstock cliff walk and the Hammetschwand lift as a full day. It is on the add-on list with its price.
Interlaken to Lucerne
Luzern-Interlaken Express - 2 hrs - Brunig Pass
- Route The Luzern-Interlaken Express over the Brunig Pass, past Lake Lungern and Lake Sarnen, about two hours with no change.
- A scenic leg, not a transfer This is one of Switzerland's named scenic routes and it happens to be the way between your two bases. No supplement, no reservation, nothing extra to pay.
- Luggage Rack space in every carriage. Station-to-station luggage forwarding can be added if you would rather send bags ahead. Quoted separately.
Upgrades and What Each One Costs
- Harder Kulm Harder Kulm The funicular straight up above Interlaken to the two-lakes viewing platform. Cheapest way to add a summit and it fits into any afternoon.
- Burgenstock and the Hammetschwand lift, Lake boat, cliff funicular and the highest exterior lift in Europe. Needs a second Lucerne night.
- Mt Rigi with the lake boat, Mt Pilatus Golden Round Trip, Both are full days from Lucerne and both need a second Lucerne night.
- Jungfraujoch Less than you would expect, because adding it changes the maths - see the note below.
- How this works Every figure above is approximate, per person, and confirmed in writing before you pay. Adding an upgrade raises the package price and we show you the new total, not a revised headline.
DAY 04
Lake Brienz, Giessbach Falls & Iseltwald
Steamer - Europe's oldest public funicular - Lakeside villageINTERLAKEN
Lake Brienz, Giessbach Falls & Iseltwald
Steamer - Europe's oldest public funicular - Lakeside village
- MORNING
- A Lake Brienz steamer from Interlaken Ost. This is the turquoise lake from the photographs, and the older Belle Epoque boats still run the route in summer. Included.

- THE FALLS
- Fourteen drops down the mountainside, with a footpath that runs behind one of them. All the paths up there are free once you have arrived.
- AFTERNOON
- Back on the boat to Iseltwald, a small stone village on a headland with a jetty, clear water and almost nothing to do. That is the point of it.
Lucerne to Zurich Airport
Direct - 1 hr 10 min
- Route Direct trains Lucerne to Zurich Airport, about an hour and ten minutes, arriving under the terminal. Hourly.
- Buffer Allow three and a half hours from Lucerne. Short leg, no changes, and one of the reasons the trip ends here.

Full policy details
Cancellation Policy
- 10 or more calendar days before departure: a 30% cancellation charge applies to the eligible package amount. Choose a 70% refund in USDC or 100% of the eligible amount as Atravelx Travel Credit.
- Less than 10 calendar days before departure: 100% non-refundable. No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily issued.
- After travel commences, or no-show: non-refundable. No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily available.
- Days are counted as calendar days to the scheduled departure date, in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). The timestamp on your written request fixes when Atravelx received it.
- Cancellation requests must be made in writing through an authorised Atravelx channel: your concierge, info@atravelx.com or WhatsApp +91 92500 00511. A phone call alone does not cancel a booking until it is confirmed in writing.
- Quote the booking reference, the lead traveller's name and the services affected. Atravelx may ask for identity or payment verification before acting on a request.
- A reason is not needed to qualify under the 10-day window.
- Cancelling some travellers, rooms, nights or services is a package amendment, not a cancellation. It does not qualify for the 10-day refund or credit on its own, and it can change the per-person price for the remaining travellers.
Atravelx Travel Credit
- Travel Credit is issued as an Atravelx Credit Note for 100% of the eligible amount actually paid, denominated in USDC.
- The 30% cancellation charge is waived when you choose Travel Credit instead of a refund.
- Credit can be used towards any eligible service booked through Atravelx: holiday packages, stays, flights, transfers, sightseeing, car rental, visa assistance and other eligible services.
- Travel Credit is non-cash. It cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for cryptocurrency or fiat currency, or transferred to another person, unless Atravelx agrees in writing.
- The validity period and expiry date are stated on the Credit Note.
- Prices at the time of the new booking apply. Travel Credit does not hold the same hotel, room, destination, dates, itinerary, supplier, activity, package or price.
- If the new booking costs more, you pay the difference in USDC. If it costs less, the balance stays on the Credit Note under its terms.
- Once you choose Travel Credit, the choice is final. It is not later converted into a refund.
Date Change Policy
- Request date changes 10 or more calendar days before the scheduled departure date.
- A date change is not guaranteed. It depends on hotel, transfer and activity availability, supplier approval, revised room rates, seasonal pricing, blackout dates, peak-season supplements, transport costs, fare differences, supplier amendment charges and revised itinerary costs.
- If the revised package costs more, you pay the difference in USDC. Supplier amendment or date-change charges may also apply.
- A date change is confirmed only when Atravelx confirms the revised arrangements in writing.
- Requests made less than 10 calendar days before departure depend on supplier approval and cannot be guaranteed.
- A postponement or date change is not a cancellation. It does not by itself create a refund or Travel Credit entitlement.
Bundled Holiday Packages
- Atravelx holiday packages are booked and priced as bundled travel arrangements made up of several interconnected services.
- Individual components of a confirmed package cannot ordinarily be cancelled separately.
- Removing a service does not automatically entitle you to a proportionate refund or Travel Credit.
- Any request to remove, replace or modify a component is treated as a package amendment, subject to supplier approval, availability, revised pricing, amounts recoverable and applicable charges.
- A value shown against an individual service does not mean it was separately contracted or can be independently cancelled.
Visa & Travel Documentation
- Travellers are responsible for a valid passport, the right visa, transit visas, entry permits, immigration documents, health documentation and any other paperwork required by the destination or a transit country.
- Visa decisions are made solely by the relevant government, embassy, consulate or immigration authority. Atravelx does not guarantee approval, processing time or appointment availability.
- A visa refusal, delay or failure to obtain a visa does not override the cancellation conditions unless Atravelx confirms otherwise in writing.
- Government, embassy, visa application centre, biometric, courier and processing fees may be non-refundable once paid or submitted.
Refund Processing & Timeline
- Atravelx acknowledges a cancellation request within 2 working days. Acknowledgement confirms receipt, not eligibility or amount. After reviewing the booking, Atravelx confirms in writing which services are cancelled, the refundable and non-refundable components, the deductions and the refund amount.
- Approved refunds are processed within 45 working days from the date Atravelx confirms in writing that the refund is approved.
- The 45 days do not run from the booking date, the date you first asked to cancel, or the departure date.
- Working days exclude Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in the United States and India.
- Refunds are calculated and paid in USDC. The refund is the eligible package amount in USDC as shown on your invoice, less the cancellation charge and any supplier deductions.
- If you paid in another cryptocurrency, the refund is still the USDC value of the eligible amount at the time of payment, not the number of coins you sent. Atravelx is not liable for changes in the market value of any coin between payment and refund.
- Refunds are sent to the wallet address the payment came from, on the same network. If that is not possible, you may nominate another wallet, which Atravelx verifies in writing before sending. Atravelx is not responsible for funds sent to a wallet address you supplied incorrectly.
- If you paid by card or bank transfer through an Atravelx payment partner, the refund goes back to that payment method where the partner supports it. Otherwise another method is agreed in writing.
- Blockchain confirmations, payment partners, card issuers and banks may add time before the funds show in your wallet or account.
- Where Atravelx cancels a confirmed booking for reasons within its reasonable control, all amounts received for the cancelled services are refunded in full, initiated within 7 working days. An alternative itinerary or Travel Credit may be offered, but you are not required to accept it instead of the refund.
- An approved refund is not replaced with Travel Credit unless you expressly agree, or the supplier itself provides only a credit or voucher under conditions disclosed before booking.
Supplier-Specific & Non-Refundable Services
- Certain services carry their own cancellation, refund or amendment terms: airline tickets, visa fees, embassy, consulate and visa-centre charges, travel insurance, rail tickets and passes, cruise and ferry bookings, event, concert, sports and attraction tickets, special-event bookings, non-refundable hotel rates, supplier deposits and any service identified as non-refundable.
- Where supplier-specific conditions were communicated in the quotation, invoice, voucher, booking confirmation or service conditions before payment, those conditions apply to that service.
- Blockchain network fees paid when you sent your payment are not part of the package amount and are not refundable.
No-Show, Unused & Partially Used Services
- No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily provided for: no-shows, cancellation after travel has commenced, voluntarily unused services, partly completed holidays, missed hotel nights, missed transfers, missed activities or sightseeing, missed trains or other transport, traveller delays, failure to report at the required time, services missed because of documentation issues, or services missed for reasons attributable to the traveller.
- If a supplier voluntarily approves a refund in an exceptional case, Atravelx passes on the recoverable amount in USDC under the applicable supplier and booking conditions.
Booking Acceptance
- By confirming a booking and making payment, you accept the cancellation, refund, date-change, bundled-package and Travel Credit conditions in this policy.
- Conditions stated in writing for an individual booking (quotation, invoice, voucher or booking confirmation) supplement this policy. Where a supplier's terms are stricter and were disclosed before payment, they apply to that service.
- A booking is governed by the version of this policy shown on the package page on the booking date, unless a later version is more favourable to you or Atravelx agrees otherwise in writing.
- For events beyond Atravelx's reasonable control (severe weather, natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, strikes, government restrictions, border or airport closures, supplier insolvency and similar), refunds, credits, postponements or alternatives depend on the affected supplier's policy and the amounts recoverable. Atravelx helps coordinate with the suppliers.
- Nothing in this policy restricts any statutory right available to a consumer under applicable law.
Frequently asked questions
Why is there no Jungfraujoch or any summit in this package?
Because summit tickets are the single most expensive item in any Swiss itinerary, leaving them out is exactly what puts this package at this price. Folding one in would add tens of thousands per person to a number you would then compare against other agencies. Instead, every summit sits on the add-on list with what it costs, and you pick. Schynige Platte, which is included, looks straight across at the same three peaks that Jungfraujoch sits between.
Is six days enough for Switzerland?
For this slice of it, yes. Six days gives you two full days out, two old towns, and a scenic pass crossing, with three nights in one place so you aren't packing every morning. What you are not doing is Zermatt, the Matterhorn or the Engadin - those need more days and more money, and we have longer packages for them. Being honest about what six days covers is better than stretching it thin.
Why is there no Swiss rail pass in this package?
Because we costed it both ways and the pass lost. A Half Fare Card has a fixed cost before it saves you anything, and on six days with three rail legs and two paid experiences it does not earn that back - point-to-point tickets came out cheaper, so that is what we bought. The moment you add a big summit, the answer flips, because the card then halves that ticket and everything else too. When you add one, we re-run the comparison and quote whichever is lower.
Is Schynige Platte worth a full day?
It is the day most people come back talking about. The railway has been running since 1893 in open-sided wooden carriages; the climb takes about fifty minutes, and the ridge at the top faces the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, with Lake Thun and Lake Brienz behind you. There is an alpine botanical garden on the ridge and an easy hour-long loop path, both free with your ticket. You could rush it in half a day, but there is no reason to.
What does it actually cost me once I add things?
Exactly what the add-on list says, and we show you the new total rather than keeping the headline number and hiding the rest. Harder Kulm is the cheapest at around five and a half thousand, Jungfraujoch the most at around twenty-three and a half thousand, and some add-ons need an extra night, which is priced separately and stated. Nothing gets added to your quotation that you have not seen a number for first.
Only one night in Zurich and one in Lucerne - is that rushed?
Not in practice. Zurich is an arrival night, and the Old Town is walkable in an afternoon. Lucerne gets a full afternoon and evening, which covers the Chapel Bridge, the Lion Monument and the Musegg Wall - all free and all within fifteen minutes of each other. The nights are concentrated in Interlaken because that is where the two full days out are. If you want more time in Lucerne, a second night is on the add-on list, and it also unlocks the Burgenstock day.
When should we travel?
Late May to early October. The Schynige Platte railway runs roughly from late May to late October, the Lake Brienz steamers from April to October, and the alpine garden is at its best from late June through July. June and September are the sweet spot - the same experience with fewer people and lower room rates. In winter, most of this route closes, so we would build something different rather than sell a thinner version of it.
What will we spend on food?
Breakfast is covered on all five mornings. Beyond that, Switzerland is expensive for eating out, but Coop and Migros supermarkets are not, and all three towns have lakeside benches and parks. Both full days out are made for a picnic - the Schynige Platte ridge and the Giessbach paths in particular. Couples who mix supermarket lunches with one sit-down meal a day spend considerably less than those who eat every meal in a restaurant.
What happens if the weather ruins a day?
Three nights in Interlaken is what makes this manageable - the ridge day and the lake day can usually be swapped. If an operator cannot run at all during your stay, the operator offers a comparable alternative at no extra cost, and anything that still cannot run is refunded in full rather than swapped for a voucher. Worth knowing: the Giessbach day works in rain. Waterfalls are better in bad weather, not worse.
How does this compare with your other Switzerland packages?
This is the entry point. It is our shortest and lowest-priced package, designed for couples on a first trip who want a real itinerary rather than a stripped-down one. Our other Switzerland packages run longer, include summits and rail passes, and cost accordingly. Tell us your budget and dates at enquiry, and we will point you to the right one rather than pushing you up a tier - if this one fits, this one is the answer.
