Tour Overview

Lucerne's 1333 CE Chapel Bridge at seven in the morning when the old wooden bridge is empty and the Reuss River is silver-still, Lauterbrunnen valley's seventy-two waterfalls lit by mist at six on a summer morning, and Grindelwald village at dusk with the Eiger north face turning amber above Swiss chalets — budget Switzerland honeymoon timed for the hours when the country is genuinely yours.

A 7-day budget honeymoon Switzerland tour package from India for couples who would rather sit still and look at something than tick off a list - two nights in Lucerne, three in Interlaken and one in Zurich, on a Swiss Half Fare Card. Best from late April to mid-October, when the Harder Kulm funicular and the Lake Brienz boats are both running.

This is the unhurried tier. One outing a day, and the outings are water and long views rather than high-altitude ice: Mt Rigi with the old lake steamer back into Lucerne, the Harder Kulm funicular to watch the sun go off the Jungfrau, a slow day in the Lauterbrunnen valley, and a Lake Brienz cruise to Giessbach Falls. Jungfraujoch is deliberately not here - it is what our Premium and Luxury honeymoon routes are built around, and leaving it out is most of the reason this one sits where it does on price.

DAY 01

Arrive Zurich, train to Lucerne

1 hr direct - Chapel Bridge - Lion Monument - Two nights begin
LUCERNE
Chapel Bridge Lucerne
ARRIVAL
Land at Zurich Airport. The train station is directly beneath arrivals — no shuttle, no taxi, no pre-booked transfer to pay for.
TRANSFER
Direct train to Lucerne, roughly 1 hour. Your Half Fare Card is issued before departure, so this ticket is already at 50%.
CHECK-IN
Two nights in central Lucerne — a 3-star within walking distance of the station, so day one costs you nothing extra in transport.
EVENING
Walk the Chapel Bridge and the Reuss riverfront. In June the light holds until almost 10 PM — the best free thing you will do all week.
Hotels

Hotel Alpha Luzern (Example)

2 nights · Central Lucerne · Double room · Breakfast

  • Stay A clean, well-run 3-star in central Lucerne, walking distance from the station and the steamer quay you leave from on Day 2.
  • Honeymoon request Double bed guaranteed, room decoration and late check-out requested with the booking.
  • Be aware Lucerne's tourist tax rose to CHF 1.10 per person per night from 2026 and is collected at the hotel, not by us.
Transfers

Zurich Airport → Lucerne

Direct SBB train · ~1 hr · Ticket included

  • At the airport The SBB station is directly under arrivals. Follow the escalator signs — there is no shuttle to find and no transfer vehicle to wait for.
  • Rail Direct trains roughly hourly, about 1 hour. Full fare is around CHF 27; you pay half, and that ticket is already in your pack.
  • Why rail, not a car A private airport transfer for two would cost more than four days of this itinerary's train travel combined.
Activities

Mt Rigi Day Pass + Lake Steamer (Included)

Europe's oldest mountain railway · Unlimited rides · Return boat

  • Included Round-trip lake steamer Lucerne–Vitznau plus a Rigi day pass giving unlimited cog railway and cable car rides on the mountain.
  • Why Rigi Better value than Pilatus or Titlis and the only one where the boat journey is half the pleasure. Summit 1,798m, gentle walking paths.
  • Weather If the summit is closed on your date, the day pass can be used on a later day of your stay, or the boat-only fare is refunded.

DAY 02

Mt Rigi & the Lake Lucerne Steamer

Queen of the Mountains · Day pass with return boat · Included
LUCERNE
mount rigi with lake
MORNING
Board a Lake Lucerne steamer from the quay outside the station to Vitznau — about an hour on the water, and the reason to do Rigi rather than a closer peak.
COG RAILWAY
Europe's oldest mountain railway, running since 1871, climbs to Rigi Kulm at 1,798m. Your day pass covers unlimited rides on the mountain.
AT THE TOP
Lakes on both sides, the Bernese Alps in the distance, and a gentle ridge path you can walk in ordinary shoes.
BUDGET TIP
Carry lunch up. Summit restaurants in Switzerland run CHF 25–35 a head and the picnic benches have the same view.
Hotels

Interlaken, Double Room

3 nights · Near Interlaken Ost · Double room · Breakfast

  • Stay A 3-star within a few minutes of Interlaken Ost, so the Lauterbrunnen and Harder Kulm departures are both on foot.
  • Breakfast Daily breakfast included at the hotel.
  • Longest stay Three nights in one room — the point of this route. Unpack once and the trip stops feeling like a coach tour.
  • Upgrade option A Jungfrau-facing room or a 4-star in the same area can be quoted if you want to spend a little more here than elsewhere.
Transfers

Lucerne → Interlaken Ost

Brünig Pass line · ~2 hrs · Ticket included

  • Route Over the Brünig Pass past Sarnen, Lungern and Lake Brienz — the same line the branded panoramic service uses, on a regular train.
  • Best seats Left side leaving Lucerne for the Lungern lake stretch. No reservation needed on the standard service.
  • Budget note Full fare is about CHF 35; the branded panoramic coaches on the same tracks cost extra for the same view through tinted glass.
Activities

Harder Kulm Sunset Funicular (Included)

1,322m · Two-lake viewing platform · Return ticket

  • Included Return funicular from Interlaken to Harder Kulm at 1,322m — a ten-minute climb starting a few minutes' walk from your hotel.
  • The view Lake Thun and Lake Brienz on either side, the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau ahead, from a platform cantilevered over the drop.
  • Timing Go about 90 minutes before sunset. Check the last descent time before you go up — it changes with the season.

DAY 03

To Interlaken & Harder Kulm Sunset

Brunig Pass line ~2 hrs · Funicular to the two-lake viewpoint
INTERLAKEN
Harder Kulm, Switzerland
CHECK-IN
Three nights in Interlaken — the longest stay of the trip, deliberately, so you stop living out of a suitcase.
EVENING
The Harder Kulm funicular climbs to 1,322m in ten minutes. Time it for sunset: Lake Thun on one side, Lake Brienz on the other, the Jungfrau straight ahead.
MORNING RAIL
Lucerne → Interlaken Ost over the Brünig Pass, about 2 hours past Sarnen, Lungern and Lake Brienz. Sit on the left leaving Lucerne.
RETURN FUNICULAR INCLUDED
The viewing platform juts out over the drop and is where most couples get their one good photograph of the trip.
Hotels

Hotel St. Josef Zurich (Example)

1 night · Near Zurich HB · Double room · Breakfast

  • Stay A simple 3-star near Zurich main station — chosen for the 10-minute airport run the next morning, not for the room.
  • Honest note Zurich is the most expensive night of the trip for the least memorable room. It exists so your flight home is easy.
  • Alternative If your flight is late enough, this night can be swapped for a fourth night in Interlaken — ask and we will re-quote.
Transfers

Interlaken Ost → Zurich HB

Via Bern · ~2 hrs · Ticket included

  • Route Interlaken Ost → Bern (~55 min) → Zurich HB (~1 hr), hourly, with one cross-platform change.
  • Free stopover Your ticket lets you break the journey in Bern the same day. Left-luggage lockers at Bern station cost a few francs.
  • Fare basis Full fare is around CHF 66 — the most expensive single leg of the trip, and the main reason the Half Fare Card pays for itself.
Activities

Candlelit Dinner, Interlaken (Included)

The one included dinner · Set menu for two

  • Included A reserved candlelit table for two in Interlaken with a set menu — the only dinner in this package, placed on the night after your quietest day.
  • Dietary Vegetarian, Jain and no-beef menus can all be arranged — tell us at booking, not on the night.
  • Move it If you would rather have this dinner on Day 5 or in Lucerne instead, say so and we will shift the reservation.

DAY 04

Lauterbrunnen Valley & and a free evening

72 waterfalls - Staubbach Falls - Level valley walk
INTERLAKEN
Lauterbrunnen Valley
EVENING
Your candlelit dinner in Interlaken — the only dinner included in this package, kept for the night you will remember it.
MORNING
Twenty minutes by train from Interlaken Ost into Lauterbrunnen - a flat-floored valley with vertical rock on both sides and seventy-two waterfalls coming off the walls.
STAUBBACH FALLS
Nearly 300m in a single drop, straight off the cliff above the village. The path to the base takes fifteen minutes from the station and costs nothing.
THE VALLEY WALK
The flat path from Lauterbrunnen towards Stechelberg is about an hour, entirely level, with falls on both sides the whole way. This is the easiest good walk in the Bernese Oberland.
Transfers

Zurich HB → Zurich Airport

SBB direct · ~10 min · Ticket included

  • Rail 10 minutes, departing every 10 to 15 minutes, arriving directly beneath the check-in hall.
  • Buffer Leave your Zurich hotel about 3 hours before an international departure and you will still be early.
  • Fare basis Full fare CHF 7.40 — half of that with your card, and already paid for in your package.
Activities

Add-Ons & What They Cost

Jungfraujoch · Schilthorn · Grindelwald First · Paragliding

  • Jungfraujoch The big one, and the most expensive single item you can add — roughly CHF 150 per person even at half fare. Fits into Day 5.
  • Cheaper summits Grindelwald First or Schilthorn/Piz Gloria cost meaningfully less and both give you glacier-scale Eiger views.
  • For the adrenaline Tandem paragliding over Interlaken lands on the meadow in the middle of town — around 20 minutes in the air.
  • How we quote Add-ons are priced at half fare with your card and listed separately on the quotation, so you always see what each one costs.
STAY · InterlakenMEALS · Breakfast + dinnerRAIL · 20 min each wayHIGHLIGHT · Candlelit dinnerTYPE · Rail transferDURATION · 10 minROUTE · ZUR → ZRHSTATUS · IncludedFITS · Day 5TYPE · OptionalPRICED · SeparatelySTATUS · Add-onWORTH KNOWING · Staubbach is at its loudest in June and early July on the snowmelt, and thins to a drifting veil by late September - both are worth seeing, they are just different things. The valley is also in shadow by late afternoon because of the cliff walls, so go in the morning if you want the falls lit.
DAY 05

Lake Brienz at Leisure

Free day · Iseltwald & the turquoise shoreline · Optional add-ons
INTERLAKEN
Lake Brienz
SUGGESTED
Bus or short train to Iseltwald on Lake Brienz — a small stone village on a turquoise lake, and an easy shoreline walk with almost no one on it.
OR SIMPLY
Stay in Interlaken. The Höhematte meadow, the Aare promenade and a paddle-boat on Lake Thun fill a day without a ticket.
IF YOU WANT A SUMMIT
This is the day to add Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn or Grindelwald First. All three are quotable as add-ons — see the Activities tab for what they cost.
WHY IT'S FREE
Leaving one day unbooked is intentional. It keeps the base price low and lets you spend on the one thing you actually want.
STAY · InterlakenMEALS · BreakfastDAY TYPE · Free / flexibleADD-ONS · On requestWORTH KNOWING · Sit on the right, going down the lake - the Giessbach side is the interesting shore, and the falls come into view from the water a good ten minutes before the boat stops. The Lake Brienz boats run from early April to early December, so this day moves indoors in deep winter, and we say so in quotation marks.
DAY 06

Interlaken to Zurich, with two hours in Bern

2 hrs via Bern · Zurich old town evening
ZURICH
Bern Switzerland
CHECK-IN
One night in Zurich, close to the main station so the morning flight is simple.
EVENING
Niederdorf lanes in the old town, then the Limmat riverside. Window-shop Bahnhofstrasse; buying there is a different budget entirely.
RAIL
Rail: Interlaken Ost to Bern along Lake Thun, then Bern to Zurich. About two and a quarter hours in total, and you can break the journey without paying extra.
OPTIONAL STOP
Break for three hours in Bern's UNESCO old town on the way — the arcades and the Zytglogge clock cost nothing to see.
STAY · ZurichMEALS · BreakfastRAIL · 2 hrsOPTIONAL · Bern haltWORTH KNOWING · Time the Bern stop so you are at the Zytglogge four minutes before the hour - that is when the mechanical figures move, and the whole thing lasts about a minute. Miss it by two minutes and you wait an hour for the next one. Bern station has lockers, so you are not walking the arcades with suitcases.
DAY 07

Departure from Zurich

Zurich HB → Airport · 10-minute train
DEPARTURE
TRANSFER
Zurich HB → Airport is 10 minutes and runs every 10 minutes. Ticket included; no paid airport transfer needed.
BREAKFAST
At the hotel — the last of six Swiss breakfasts.

Why this route works

Half Fare Card beats a pass here
On this exact route, a Swiss Travel Pass costs more than the tickets you would actually use. A Half Fare Card at CHF 150 plus hand-picked point-to-point tickets saves roughly CHF 132 per person — about ₹15,000 for a couple.
Three nights in one room
Interlaken gets half the trip. The Lauterbrunnen day, the Lake Brienz cruise and the Harder Kulm evening all start and end at the same hotel, so you unpack once. On a honeymoon that is worth more than a fourth town nobody remembers.
Built around evenings, not early starts
The two signature moments here are a sunset funicular and a lake steamer at golden hour, not a 6 AM cable car. Mornings stay open, and the only day with a fixed start is Rigi - and even that one you can push later if the weather is better in the afternoon.

Full policy details

Cancellation Policy
  • 10 or more calendar days before departure: a 30% cancellation charge applies to the eligible package amount. Choose a 70% refund in USDC or 100% of the eligible amount as Atravelx Travel Credit.
  • Less than 10 calendar days before departure: 100% non-refundable. No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily issued.
  • After travel commences, or no-show: non-refundable. No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily available.
  • Days are counted as calendar days to the scheduled departure date, in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). The timestamp on your written request fixes when Atravelx received it.
  • Cancellation requests must be made in writing through an authorised Atravelx channel: your concierge, info@atravelx.com or WhatsApp +91 92500 00511. A phone call alone does not cancel a booking until it is confirmed in writing.
  • Quote the booking reference, the lead traveller's name and the services affected. Atravelx may ask for identity or payment verification before acting on a request.
  • A reason is not needed to qualify under the 10-day window.
  • Cancelling some travellers, rooms, nights or services is a package amendment, not a cancellation. It does not qualify for the 10-day refund or credit on its own, and it can change the per-person price for the remaining travellers.
Atravelx Travel Credit
  • Travel Credit is issued as an Atravelx Credit Note for 100% of the eligible amount actually paid, denominated in USDC.
  • The 30% cancellation charge is waived when you choose Travel Credit instead of a refund.
  • Credit can be used towards any eligible service booked through Atravelx: holiday packages, stays, flights, transfers, sightseeing, car rental, visa assistance and other eligible services.
  • Travel Credit is non-cash. It cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for cryptocurrency or fiat currency, or transferred to another person, unless Atravelx agrees in writing.
  • The validity period and expiry date are stated on the Credit Note.
  • Prices at the time of the new booking apply. Travel Credit does not hold the same hotel, room, destination, dates, itinerary, supplier, activity, package or price.
  • If the new booking costs more, you pay the difference in USDC. If it costs less, the balance stays on the Credit Note under its terms.
  • Once you choose Travel Credit, the choice is final. It is not later converted into a refund.
Date Change Policy
  • Request date changes 10 or more calendar days before the scheduled departure date.
  • A date change is not guaranteed. It depends on hotel, transfer and activity availability, supplier approval, revised room rates, seasonal pricing, blackout dates, peak-season supplements, transport costs, fare differences, supplier amendment charges and revised itinerary costs.
  • If the revised package costs more, you pay the difference in USDC. Supplier amendment or date-change charges may also apply.
  • A date change is confirmed only when Atravelx confirms the revised arrangements in writing.
  • Requests made less than 10 calendar days before departure depend on supplier approval and cannot be guaranteed.
  • A postponement or date change is not a cancellation. It does not by itself create a refund or Travel Credit entitlement.
Bundled Holiday Packages
  • Atravelx holiday packages are booked and priced as bundled travel arrangements made up of several interconnected services.
  • Individual components of a confirmed package cannot ordinarily be cancelled separately.
  • Removing a service does not automatically entitle you to a proportionate refund or Travel Credit.
  • Any request to remove, replace or modify a component is treated as a package amendment, subject to supplier approval, availability, revised pricing, amounts recoverable and applicable charges.
  • A value shown against an individual service does not mean it was separately contracted or can be independently cancelled.
Visa & Travel Documentation
  • Travellers are responsible for a valid passport, the right visa, transit visas, entry permits, immigration documents, health documentation and any other paperwork required by the destination or a transit country.
  • Visa decisions are made solely by the relevant government, embassy, consulate or immigration authority. Atravelx does not guarantee approval, processing time or appointment availability.
  • A visa refusal, delay or failure to obtain a visa does not override the cancellation conditions unless Atravelx confirms otherwise in writing.
  • Government, embassy, visa application centre, biometric, courier and processing fees may be non-refundable once paid or submitted.
Refund Processing & Timeline
  • Atravelx acknowledges a cancellation request within 2 working days. Acknowledgement confirms receipt, not eligibility or amount. After reviewing the booking, Atravelx confirms in writing which services are cancelled, the refundable and non-refundable components, the deductions and the refund amount.
  • Approved refunds are processed within 45 working days from the date Atravelx confirms in writing that the refund is approved.
  • The 45 days do not run from the booking date, the date you first asked to cancel, or the departure date.
  • Working days exclude Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in the United States and India.
  • Refunds are calculated and paid in USDC. The refund is the eligible package amount in USDC as shown on your invoice, less the cancellation charge and any supplier deductions.
  • If you paid in another cryptocurrency, the refund is still the USDC value of the eligible amount at the time of payment, not the number of coins you sent. Atravelx is not liable for changes in the market value of any coin between payment and refund.
  • Refunds are sent to the wallet address the payment came from, on the same network. If that is not possible, you may nominate another wallet, which Atravelx verifies in writing before sending. Atravelx is not responsible for funds sent to a wallet address you supplied incorrectly.
  • If you paid by card or bank transfer through an Atravelx payment partner, the refund goes back to that payment method where the partner supports it. Otherwise another method is agreed in writing.
  • Blockchain confirmations, payment partners, card issuers and banks may add time before the funds show in your wallet or account.
  • Where Atravelx cancels a confirmed booking for reasons within its reasonable control, all amounts received for the cancelled services are refunded in full, initiated within 7 working days. An alternative itinerary or Travel Credit may be offered, but you are not required to accept it instead of the refund.
  • An approved refund is not replaced with Travel Credit unless you expressly agree, or the supplier itself provides only a credit or voucher under conditions disclosed before booking.
Supplier-Specific & Non-Refundable Services
  • Certain services carry their own cancellation, refund or amendment terms: airline tickets, visa fees, embassy, consulate and visa-centre charges, travel insurance, rail tickets and passes, cruise and ferry bookings, event, concert, sports and attraction tickets, special-event bookings, non-refundable hotel rates, supplier deposits and any service identified as non-refundable.
  • Where supplier-specific conditions were communicated in the quotation, invoice, voucher, booking confirmation or service conditions before payment, those conditions apply to that service.
  • Blockchain network fees paid when you sent your payment are not part of the package amount and are not refundable.
No-Show, Unused & Partially Used Services
  • No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily provided for: no-shows, cancellation after travel has commenced, voluntarily unused services, partly completed holidays, missed hotel nights, missed transfers, missed activities or sightseeing, missed trains or other transport, traveller delays, failure to report at the required time, services missed because of documentation issues, or services missed for reasons attributable to the traveller.
  • If a supplier voluntarily approves a refund in an exceptional case, Atravelx passes on the recoverable amount in USDC under the applicable supplier and booking conditions.
Booking Acceptance
  • By confirming a booking and making payment, you accept the cancellation, refund, date-change, bundled-package and Travel Credit conditions in this policy.
  • Conditions stated in writing for an individual booking (quotation, invoice, voucher or booking confirmation) supplement this policy. Where a supplier's terms are stricter and were disclosed before payment, they apply to that service.
  • A booking is governed by the version of this policy shown on the package page on the booking date, unless a later version is more favourable to you or Atravelx agrees otherwise in writing.
  • For events beyond Atravelx's reasonable control (severe weather, natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, strikes, government restrictions, border or airport closures, supplier insolvency and similar), refunds, credits, postponements or alternatives depend on the affected supplier's policy and the amounts recoverable. Atravelx helps coordinate with the suppliers.
  • Nothing in this policy restricts any statutory right available to a consumer under applicable law.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Jungfraujoch not included? Can we add it?
Because it is the single most expensive thing you can do in Switzerland — roughly CHF 150 per person even with your Half Fare Card discount, which is around ₹35,000 added to a couple's trip. Including it would push this package into a different price bracket entirely. Day 5 is deliberately left free so you can add it if you want it, and we will quote it separately so you can see the cost before deciding.
What is the best month to travel on this itinerary?
May to September. The lake steamers run their full schedule, Harder Kulm is open, and the evening light lasts past 9 PM in June and July, which matters a lot on an itinerary built around sunsets and walks. July and August cost the most and are busiest. Late May and September give you the same experience with lower hotel rates — which, on a budget package, is the easiest way to save without cutting anything out.
Will we find vegetarian or Indian food?
Yes in Interlaken and Zurich, which both have Indian restaurants, and yes for vegetarian food almost everywhere — rösti, cheese dishes, pasta and salads are standard. Lucerne is thinner on Indian food than Interlaken. Two practical tips: supermarket meals from Coop or Migros are a fraction of restaurant prices and perfectly good for lunch, and if you want Jain or strictly no-onion-garlic food, tell us at booking so we can note it for the included dinner.
Do we need a Schengen visa, and does the marriage certificate matter?
Indian passport holders need a Schengen (Type-C) visa. For a honeymoon booking, carrying a copy of the marriage certificate is useful for hotels—it makes the honeymoon privileges request credible—but it is not a visa requirement. Apply six to eight weeks ahead; summer slots fill up. We provide the document checklist and assistance, but the fees are excluded, and approval rests entirely with the consulate.
Can we add a night, upgrade a hotel or move the dinner?
Yes to all three. The most common changes to this package are swapping the Zurich night for a fourth night in Interlaken when the flight allows it, upgrading only the Interlaken hotel since that is where you spend three nights, and moving the candlelit dinner to a different evening. Each change is re-quoted before you confirm, so you always see the price difference first.
Are the hotels and rail card shown guaranteed?
No. The hotel cards are suggested examples at the 3-star level. Your quotation states the final confirmed properties and room category. The Swiss Half Fare Card itself is guaranteed — it is a fixed national product, not a negotiable inclusion.
How is this different from your Premium and Luxury honeymoon packages?
Three real differences, not just price. Peaks: this route tops out at Mt Rigi and Harder Kulm, while Premium and Luxury focus on Jungfraujoch, and Luxury adds Zermatt, the Glacier Express, and St. Moritz. Rail: this one uses a Half Fare Card with hand-picked tickets, the higher tiers use a Swiss Travel Pass or panoramic-train seats. Pace: this is one outing a day with open mornings; the higher tiers move more and see more. Same three hotel cities, genuinely different trips.
Why a Half Fare Card and not a Swiss Travel Pass?
Because on this route the pass loses money. A Swiss Travel Pass costs a fixed amount and then covers most travel outright, which works when you are moving every day and taking expensive lifts. Here there are only two paid lifts, three rail legs and two boats. The Half Fare Card costs CHF 150, takes half off all of that, and on this exact itinerary comes out roughly CHF 160 per person cheaper than the pass would. That difference is not margin - it is the reason this package is priced where it is. If you add Jungfraujoch, ask us to re-check the maths, because at that point the answer can flip.
