DAY 01
Arrive Tokyo
Airport transfer, evening in AsakusaTOKYO
Arrive Tokyo
Airport transfer, evening in Asakusa
- ARRIVAL
- Land at Narita or Haneda airport. A pre-arranged private transfer takes you to the hotel - about 70 minutes from Narita, 40 from Haneda, depending on traffic.
- CHECK-IN
- Your Asakusa hotel is on the east side of central Tokyo - quieter, cheaper and within walking distance of Senso-ji, one of the city's oldest temples.
- EVENING
- Senso-ji is five minutes from most Asakusa hotels and the Kaminarimon gate looks its best after dark when the big red lantern is lit. The Nakamise shopping street leading up to it closes early, but the temple grounds stay open.
Asakusa or Ueno Area
3 nights - 3-star - double bed - breakfast daily
- Area Asakusa or Ueno - budget-friendly east Tokyo. Walking distance to Senso-ji, direct metro lines to Shibuya, Shinjuku and Tokyo Skytree. Quieter than the west side of the city and consistently cheaper per night.
- Room Double bed for two adults. Japanese 3-star hotels at this level are consistently clean, compact and well-run. Rooms are smaller than Indian hotels at the same rating but the service is reliable.
- Meals Breakfast each morning. No lunch or dinner included.
Shinkansen and Rail
Bullet train Tokyo to Kyoto, local train Kyoto to Osaka
- Shinkansen One bullet train - Nozomi from Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station. Reserved seat, about 2 hours 15 minutes. The Nozomi is the fastest service on the Tokaido line and the one we book for you.
- Kyoto to Osaka JR Special Rapid - about 30 minutes, no reservation needed, IC card works. This is a regular express train (not a Shinkansen) and runs every 15 minutes throughout the day.
- JR Pass Not included and not worth buying on this route. The seven-day JR Pass costs about three times more than the individual tickets for this trip. We buy point-to-point and include every ticket. If you add more cities or backtrack, the answer can change - ask us to re-run the numbers.
- Local transport Suica IC card for all local metro, trains and buses across all three cities. Tap in, tap out, rechargeable at any station machine. Also works at convenience stores and vending machines.
DAY 02
Tokyo - Shibuya, Harajuku, Meiji Jingu
Shrine, street fashion, the world's busiest crossingTOKYO
Tokyo - Shibuya, Harajuku, Meiji Jingu
Shrine, street fashion, the world's busiest crossing
- EVENING
- Shibuya's restaurants and izakaya bars are stacked eight floors high in every direction. Pick a floor and walk in. The side streets behind Centre-Gai are less crowded and often better.
- MORNING - MEIJI JINGU
- A forested Shinto shrine in the middle of Tokyo, ten minutes from Harajuku Station. Free entry. The walk through the towering torii gates and camphor trees takes about 45 minutes - it is the quietest place in central Tokyo.
- AFTERNOON - HARAJUKU AND SHIBUYA
- Walk from the shrine to Takeshita Street for street fashion and snacks - crepes, matcha soft serve, cotton candy. Then continue south to Shibuya crossing, the intersection that scrambles every two minutes with up to 3,000 people crossing at once.
Near Kyoto Station
2 nights - 3-star - double bed - breakfast daily
- Area Near Kyoto Station - the most practical base. Direct bus lines to Kinkaku-ji and Arashiyama, the JR Nara line to Fushimi Inari is two stops away, and the Shinkansen platform for Osaka is a five-minute walk when you check out.
- Room Double bed for two adults. Kyoto hotels fill up fast in cherry-blossom season (late March to mid-April) and autumn foliage (October to November) - book early for those periods.
- Meals Breakfast each morning. No dinner included. Gion and Pontocho alley are within reach for evening meals.
Airport Transfers
Private car on arrival and departure
- Arrival Private car from Narita or Haneda airport to your Asakusa hotel. About 70 minutes from Narita, 40 from Haneda, depending on traffic and time of day.
- Departure Private car from your Namba hotel to Kansai International Airport (KIX). About 50 minutes depending on traffic.
- Open-jaw routing You fly into Tokyo and out of Osaka. This avoids a return Shinkansen (saving about three hours and half a day), and open-jaw airfares from India are often the same price as return tickets to one city.
DAY 03
Tokyo - Skytree and Free Time
Observation deck and your own afternoonTOKYO
Tokyo - Skytree and Free Time
Observation deck and your own afternoon
- MORNING - TOKYO SKYTREE
- The tallest structure in Japan at 634 metres. Your Tembo Deck ticket is included - the observation floor at 350 metres. Clear-day views reach Mt Fuji. Go first thing for the shortest queue and the best light.
- AFTERNOON - FREE
- Options: Akihabara for electronics and anime culture (two stops on the Tsukuba Express from Asakusa). Ueno Park and its cluster of museums. Ginza for high-end shopping. Tsukiji Outer Market for street-stall sushi and tamagoyaki. This is your lightest day on purpose.
Namba Area
2 nights - 3-star - double bed - breakfast daily
- Area Namba - Dotonbori is a five-minute walk from most Namba hotels. Metro, JR and Nankai lines all converge here, and the Nankai line runs direct to KIX airport for your departure.
- Room Double bed for two adults. Namba hotels tend to be slightly cheaper than Shinsaibashi or Umeda and closer to the food district.
- Meals Breakfast each morning. No dinner on any night - Dotonbori's street food and Osaka's restaurant alleys are a five-minute walk and you will eat better there.
DAY 04
Shinkansen to Kyoto, Fushimi Inari
Bullet train and ten thousand torii gatesKYOTO
Shinkansen to Kyoto, Fushimi Inari
Bullet train and ten thousand torii gates
- EVENING
- Walk through Kyoto's geisha district after dinner. The wooden machiya townhouses on Hanamikoji Street are the classic postcard shot of old Kyoto. Quietest after 7 PM when the tour groups leave.
- MORNING - SHINKANSEN
- Check out of Tokyo. Nozomi bullet train from Tokyo Station to Kyoto Station - about 2 hours 15 minutes, reserved seat included. Ask for a window seat on the right side heading west for a chance at Mt Fuji between Shin-Yokohama and Shizuoka on a clear day.
- AFTERNOON - FUSHIMI INARI
- Drop bags at your hotel near Kyoto Station, then take the JR Nara line to Fushimi Inari - two stops, five minutes. The main torii-gate tunnel takes about 30 minutes to walk. The full hike to the summit is two hours, but most people turn around at the first junction where the view opens up and the crowds thin.

- Tokyo Upgrade to a 4-star property in Shinjuku or Shibuya - busier districts with more nightlife and shopping, and a slightly larger room. Supplement quoted per night.

Full policy details
Cancellation Policy
- 10 or more calendar days before departure: a 30% cancellation charge applies to the eligible package amount. Choose a 70% refund in USDC or 100% of the eligible amount as Atravelx Travel Credit.
- Less than 10 calendar days before departure: 100% non-refundable. No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily issued.
- After travel commences, or no-show: non-refundable. No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily available.
- Days are counted as calendar days to the scheduled departure date, in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). The timestamp on your written request fixes when Atravelx received it.
- Cancellation requests must be made in writing through an authorised Atravelx channel: your concierge, info@atravelx.com or WhatsApp +91 92500 00511. A phone call alone does not cancel a booking until it is confirmed in writing.
- Quote the booking reference, the lead traveller's name and the services affected. Atravelx may ask for identity or payment verification before acting on a request.
- A reason is not needed to qualify under the 10-day window.
- Cancelling some travellers, rooms, nights or services is a package amendment, not a cancellation. It does not qualify for the 10-day refund or credit on its own, and it can change the per-person price for the remaining travellers.
Atravelx Travel Credit
- Travel Credit is issued as an Atravelx Credit Note for 100% of the eligible amount actually paid, denominated in USDC.
- The 30% cancellation charge is waived when you choose Travel Credit instead of a refund.
- Credit can be used towards any eligible service booked through Atravelx: holiday packages, stays, flights, transfers, sightseeing, car rental, visa assistance and other eligible services.
- Travel Credit is non-cash. It cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for cryptocurrency or fiat currency, or transferred to another person, unless Atravelx agrees in writing.
- The validity period and expiry date are stated on the Credit Note.
- Prices at the time of the new booking apply. Travel Credit does not hold the same hotel, room, destination, dates, itinerary, supplier, activity, package or price.
- If the new booking costs more, you pay the difference in USDC. If it costs less, the balance stays on the Credit Note under its terms.
- Once you choose Travel Credit, the choice is final. It is not later converted into a refund.
Date Change Policy
- Request date changes 10 or more calendar days before the scheduled departure date.
- A date change is not guaranteed. It depends on hotel, transfer and activity availability, supplier approval, revised room rates, seasonal pricing, blackout dates, peak-season supplements, transport costs, fare differences, supplier amendment charges and revised itinerary costs.
- If the revised package costs more, you pay the difference in USDC. Supplier amendment or date-change charges may also apply.
- A date change is confirmed only when Atravelx confirms the revised arrangements in writing.
- Requests made less than 10 calendar days before departure depend on supplier approval and cannot be guaranteed.
- A postponement or date change is not a cancellation. It does not by itself create a refund or Travel Credit entitlement.
Bundled Holiday Packages
- Atravelx holiday packages are booked and priced as bundled travel arrangements made up of several interconnected services.
- Individual components of a confirmed package cannot ordinarily be cancelled separately.
- Removing a service does not automatically entitle you to a proportionate refund or Travel Credit.
- Any request to remove, replace or modify a component is treated as a package amendment, subject to supplier approval, availability, revised pricing, amounts recoverable and applicable charges.
- A value shown against an individual service does not mean it was separately contracted or can be independently cancelled.
Visa & Travel Documentation
- Travellers are responsible for a valid passport, the right visa, transit visas, entry permits, immigration documents, health documentation and any other paperwork required by the destination or a transit country.
- Visa decisions are made solely by the relevant government, embassy, consulate or immigration authority. Atravelx does not guarantee approval, processing time or appointment availability.
- A visa refusal, delay or failure to obtain a visa does not override the cancellation conditions unless Atravelx confirms otherwise in writing.
- Government, embassy, visa application centre, biometric, courier and processing fees may be non-refundable once paid or submitted.
Refund Processing & Timeline
- Atravelx acknowledges a cancellation request within 2 working days. Acknowledgement confirms receipt, not eligibility or amount. After reviewing the booking, Atravelx confirms in writing which services are cancelled, the refundable and non-refundable components, the deductions and the refund amount.
- Approved refunds are processed within 45 working days from the date Atravelx confirms in writing that the refund is approved.
- The 45 days do not run from the booking date, the date you first asked to cancel, or the departure date.
- Working days exclude Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays in the United States and India.
- Refunds are calculated and paid in USDC. The refund is the eligible package amount in USDC as shown on your invoice, less the cancellation charge and any supplier deductions.
- If you paid in another cryptocurrency, the refund is still the USDC value of the eligible amount at the time of payment, not the number of coins you sent. Atravelx is not liable for changes in the market value of any coin between payment and refund.
- Refunds are sent to the wallet address the payment came from, on the same network. If that is not possible, you may nominate another wallet, which Atravelx verifies in writing before sending. Atravelx is not responsible for funds sent to a wallet address you supplied incorrectly.
- If you paid by card or bank transfer through an Atravelx payment partner, the refund goes back to that payment method where the partner supports it. Otherwise another method is agreed in writing.
- Blockchain confirmations, payment partners, card issuers and banks may add time before the funds show in your wallet or account.
- Where Atravelx cancels a confirmed booking for reasons within its reasonable control, all amounts received for the cancelled services are refunded in full, initiated within 7 working days. An alternative itinerary or Travel Credit may be offered, but you are not required to accept it instead of the refund.
- An approved refund is not replaced with Travel Credit unless you expressly agree, or the supplier itself provides only a credit or voucher under conditions disclosed before booking.
Supplier-Specific & Non-Refundable Services
- Certain services carry their own cancellation, refund or amendment terms: airline tickets, visa fees, embassy, consulate and visa-centre charges, travel insurance, rail tickets and passes, cruise and ferry bookings, event, concert, sports and attraction tickets, special-event bookings, non-refundable hotel rates, supplier deposits and any service identified as non-refundable.
- Where supplier-specific conditions were communicated in the quotation, invoice, voucher, booking confirmation or service conditions before payment, those conditions apply to that service.
- Blockchain network fees paid when you sent your payment are not part of the package amount and are not refundable.
No-Show, Unused & Partially Used Services
- No refund or Travel Credit is ordinarily provided for: no-shows, cancellation after travel has commenced, voluntarily unused services, partly completed holidays, missed hotel nights, missed transfers, missed activities or sightseeing, missed trains or other transport, traveller delays, failure to report at the required time, services missed because of documentation issues, or services missed for reasons attributable to the traveller.
- If a supplier voluntarily approves a refund in an exceptional case, Atravelx passes on the recoverable amount in USDC under the applicable supplier and booking conditions.
Booking Acceptance
- By confirming a booking and making payment, you accept the cancellation, refund, date-change, bundled-package and Travel Credit conditions in this policy.
- Conditions stated in writing for an individual booking (quotation, invoice, voucher or booking confirmation) supplement this policy. Where a supplier's terms are stricter and were disclosed before payment, they apply to that service.
- A booking is governed by the version of this policy shown on the package page on the booking date, unless a later version is more favourable to you or Atravelx agrees otherwise in writing.
- For events beyond Atravelx's reasonable control (severe weather, natural disasters, epidemics, war, civil unrest, strikes, government restrictions, border or airport closures, supplier insolvency and similar), refunds, credits, postponements or alternatives depend on the affected supplier's policy and the amounts recoverable. Atravelx helps coordinate with the suppliers.
- Nothing in this policy restricts any statutory right available to a consumer under applicable law.
Frequently asked questions
What is included in this Japan Goldenroute package?
Can this Japan Golden Route itinerary be customised?
Yes, this Japan Golden Route itinerary can be customised for honeymoon, family travel, hotel upgrades, flight city, activity preferences, number of nights and budget.
What is the best time to book this Japan Golden Route tour package?
Does Atravelq help with visa guidance for Japan Golden route?
Do Indian passport holders need a visa for Japan?
Yes. Indian passport holders need a Japan tourist visa. It is not a Schengen visa or a visa on arrival. Apply through VFS Global or the Japanese embassy. We prepare and guide you on the documentation. The visa fee is not included in the package price. Processing usually takes five to seven working days. Reconfirm requirements before you apply, as rules can change.
Are flights included in this package?
No. This is a land package - hotels, Shinkansen, sightseeing tickets and transfers only. You book international flights separately, or ask us to quote them for your city and dates. The routing is open-jaw: fly into Tokyo (Narita or Haneda) and out of Osaka (Kansai International). This avoids a return Shinkansen and saves a travel day.
Should we buy a JR Pass for this trip?
No. The seven-day JR Pass costs about three times as much as individual tickets for this route. This trip uses one Shinkansen ride (Tokyo to Kyoto) and a short JR train (Kyoto to Osaka), which is not enough to fill a pass built for crisscrossing the country. We buy point-to-point and include every ticket. If you add more cities, the answer can change - ask us to re-run it.
When is the best time to visit Japan?
The trip runs year-round. Best value is January to March and June to September, when hotel rates are lowest and crowds lighter. Cherry blossom season (late March to mid-April) is peak for Kyoto - temples and parks turn pink, but hotels fill fast and rates spike. Autumn foliage (October to November) is equally busy. Avoid Golden Week (late April to early May) and Obon (mid-August) - trains are full and everything is booked.
Is vegetarian food easy to find in Japan?
Easier than it used to be, but it needs some planning. Tokyo and Osaka have dedicated vegetarian and Indian restaurants - Asakusa, Ueno and the Namba area each have several. Convenience stores carry onigiri, edamame and inari sushi that are vegetarian. Strictly Jain food (no onion, no garlic, no root vegetables) is harder - we recommend carrying a bilingual Jain food card and we can provide one. Tell us your dietary needs and we send a restaurant shortlist for each city.
How is this different from your other Japan packages?
This is the simplest and most affordable Japan package we sell - three cities, all the classic highlights, no expensive add-ons. The Family and Theme Parks package adds Tokyo Disneyland and Universal Studios Japan and is built for families with children. The Golden Route package adds a Hakone overnight with the ropeway-pirate-ship loop and Mt Fuji views, plus Shibuya Sky and teamLab Borderless. If your trip is about the parks, choose the Family package. If you want Hakone, choose the Golden Route. If you want Japan's essentials at the best price, this is the one.
Can we add theme parks or other experiences?
Yes. Tokyo Disneyland, DisneySea, Universal Studios Japan, teamLab Borderless, Shibuya Sky, a Nara day trip and a Hakone day trip are all available as optional add-ons priced separately in your quotation. A cooking class in Kyoto or Osaka is also available. Tell us what you want and we quote it with the package.
Are the hotels confirmed and named?
No. The hotels are shown by star category and area (Asakusa or Ueno in Tokyo, near Kyoto Station, Namba in Osaka), not as a confirmed booking. Your actual hotel is named in your quotation before you pay anything. If the property we want is unavailable, we book a similar-tier alternative in the same area and tell you before you pay.
Do we need to figure out the trains ourselves?
No. We pre-book the Shinkansen reserved seat and load your Suica IC card. The IC card is a tap-and-go card that works on every train, metro, bus and convenience store across all three cities - top it up at any station machine. Japan's rail system is punctual and well-signed in English. We give you a step-by-step transport guide with station names, platform numbers and which train to take for every leg.
Will our phones work in Japan?
Yes. This package includes a pocket WiFi device for the full eight days - a battery-powered router that fits in your pocket and gives mobile data anywhere. Hotel WiFi is standard at every property. If you prefer a local SIM or eSIM, we can arrange that instead. Data is essential for maps, train times and translation apps.
What is the money situation - cash, cards, tipping?
The currency is the Japanese yen. IC cards and credit cards work on trains, in convenience stores and in most shops and restaurants. Cash is still needed at some smaller temples, street-food stalls and traditional shops - ATMs at 7-Eleven and Japan Post accept international cards. Tipping is not expected or practised in Japan, at restaurants, hotels, or in taxis. Do not leave money on the table.
What should we pack
Comfortable walking shoes are the most important item - most days are eight to twelve thousand steps. Layers work best: Japan's weather ranges from cold and dry in winter to hot and humid in summer. Temples require covered shoulders and quiet behaviour; shoes come off at some entrances. Bring a small towel - many Japanese restrooms do not have paper towels. A rain jacket is useful in any season.
Can we extend or change the route?
Easily. A Nara day trip (deer park, giant Buddha) slots into the Kyoto days. Extra nights in any city extend the stay. A Hakone overnight adds a night and the ropeway-pirate-ship loop. A Hiroshima extension adds two to three days. Tell us at enquiry what you want to change and we build one revised quotation.
Is Japan safe for Indian travellers?
Japan is consistently ranked among the safest countries in the world. Violent crime is extremely rare, streets are safe at night, and lost property is usually returned. Trains are clean and efficient. English signage is standard at stations, airports and major attractions. Emergency services are reachable at 110 (police) and 119 (ambulance). It is one of the easiest countries for a first-time international traveller.
Is there a language barrier?
Most signs in stations, airports and tourist areas are in English and Japanese. Hotel staff and ticket counter staff generally speak basic English. In smaller restaurants and shops, a translation app fills the gap - Google Translate's camera mode translates Japanese menus in real time. The transport guide we give you has all station names in both English and Japanese characters, so you can show it to anyone.
